Whereas the Pasadena Youth Network, a coalition of members from Day One Youth Advocates, Pasadena Public Library Teen Advisory Board, and Pasadena Youth Ambassadors, provide young persons in our community with forums for civic engagement, advance the vision for youth, create opportunities for involvement in decision making on matters affecting youth, and raise awareness around bullying and its long term, negative impacts on youth; and

Whereas committed to providing safe learning environments for all students, this month the Pasadena Youth Network will partner with student leadership from local schools to distribute Care Kits and stand in solidarity against bullying by wearing blue during World Bullying Prevention Month, thereby raising awareness that bullying or negative behavior which infringes on the safety, welfare, or well-being of students is not to be tolerated;

Now, Therefore I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the month of October, 2021 in Pasadena as Bullying Prevention Awareness Month, and support the effort to raise awareness of the dangers associated with all forms of bullying.
