The City of Pasadena provides an array of human services to support the community including consumer action services, assistance with landlord/tenant issues, small claims, applications with various government assistance programs and other related matters. Various support and programs are also available for youth, families, and seniors.
Community Service Staff is available by appointment to assist with the following services: small claims, restraining orders, responses to restraining orders, unlawful detainers, landlord tenant issues, Social Security, CAlFresh, GR, unemployment Claims, state disability, Medi-Cal, CalWorks, legal name change and housing applications and other related matters.

Trained Housing Counselors are available to answer questions about landlord-tenant rights and responsibilities, including questions about Security Deposits, Evictions, Repairs, Rent Increases, and Harassments. In addition, Case Analysts investigate allegations of housing discrimination and help victims of discrimination enforce their Fair Housing rights.

Unlawful Detainer
The Community Service staff aids with completing the tenant’s response to an unlawful detainer claim. The service is only for tenants. Steps and items involved with unlawful detainers are:

Know your rights as a tenant. The Community Service staff provides help and assistance with questions or complaints regarding landlord/tenant relationships, including repair issues, safety violations, and Health and Safety Code violations

Open to all individuals and community members who need legal assistance but lack the resources to hire an attorney.

U.S. Citizens may apply for their U.S. passport with our trained Passport Agents. Photos can be taken on site. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Community Center. Forms and/or documents needed:

Restraining Order / Response to Restraining Order
The Community Service staff assist with restraining orders, which is a court order that can protect someone from being physically or sexually abused, threatened, stalked, civil harassment, domestic violence, elder abuse, and gun violence. Documents or information needed:

Unemployment Claims / State Disability Insurance
The Community Service rep assist with INITIAL unemployment application, weekly job search form and appealing a denied unemployment insurance claim. Documents required for this service:
