Dial-A-Ride to TAP Transition Information

Pasadena Dial-A-Ride is replacing its membership cards with TAP Reduced Fare cards. What do I need to know?

What is changing? Beginning February 27, 2017, Pasadena Dial-A-Ride members will need to have a Pasadena Dial-A-Ride membership pass loaded onto either a Senior Reduced Fare TAP card, LACTOA Disabled Reduced Fare TAP card or Access Services ID TAP card.

How will this work? Fill out the attached application to receive your Reduced Fare TAP card. Once you have your TAP card, visit us at the Pasadena Dial-A-Ride Administrative Office or call us at (626) 744-4094 to register your TAP card number to have the new Pasadena Dial-A-Ride membership pass loaded onto your TAP card. This pass will also allow you to use Pasadena Transit. The expiration date will be printed on the front of your TAP card. If you have an Access Services TAP card, you will NOT need to obtain a Senior or Disabled TAP card.  Any of the three TAP cards noted above can be used for your Pasadena Dial-A-Ride membership card.

What is a TAP card? TAP is a durable plastic card that can be used again and again for faster, safer boarding. You can load Stored Value or passes from different agencies onto your TAP card for seamless travel throughout LA County. Stored Value is a pay-per-ride option for TAP-enabled transit agencies, and you can load any amount up to $300 on a TAP card. You can use Stored Value to pay for your Dial-A-Ride rides by tapping your card on the validator machine located where you enter the bus; however, you may also continue to use cash on Pasadena Dial-A-Ride. The Dial-A-Ride TAP membership pass will also allow you to ride Pasadena Transit after you TAP on the validator machine.

How do I get a TAP card? Attached is your Reduced Fare TAP card application. Please follow the instructions on the application.

  • If you are 60 years or older, please apply for the Senior TAP card.
  • If you are under 60, please apply for the LACTOA Disabled TAP card.
