Thank you for your interest in the draft Citywide Historic Context Statement, produced during phase 1 of the Historic Places Pasadena:  Completing Our Story project!  We are excited to release the draft document and receive feedback from the public!  Below are links to access the chapters of the document.

We strongly encourage reading the Introduction chapter first.  It contains important information about the purpose of the document.  Below are a few high-level points to be aware of before reading the document:

• The Historic Context Statement is intended to form a framework for the identification and recognition of significant historic resources, including important development patterns, historical events, people, and communities, to provide a more complete record of the history of the city’s development.

• Places mentioned or not mentioned in the Historic Context Statement may or may not be considered historic resources.  The document is not intended to include every example of a particular property type or type of development or every potentially significant person or event in the City’s history.

• Soon after the release of the Historic Context Statement in April 2025, phase 2, the Historic Resource Survey phase of the project, will start.  It is during this phase of the project that all properties in the City will be evaluated and potential historic resources will be identified, based on the framework established in the draft Historic Context Statement.

• Also during the Historic Resource Survey phase, the Historic Context Statement will be revised in response to public comments received and new information that may be discovered during the survey.  The final Historic Context Statement will be released at the end of phase 2, and we will be accepting public comments on the Historic Context Statement until the end of that phase of the project.
