August and September 2016 Air Ops Highlights

South Pasadena PD: Aug. 2, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the area of Mission Ave. and Hope St. to assist South Pasadena patrol officers with a vehicle pursuit of a suspect wanted for making Criminal Threats.  When the Air Crew arrived on scene, they assumed control of the pursuit and followed the vehicle as it drove on city streets and the freeway through the cities of Los Angeles, Pasadena and Glendale.  Once in the City of Glendale the suspect entered Glendale City College and fled on foot onto the campus.  The Air Crew directed assisting officers to the area and contained the campus.  While searching the campus with the FLIR camera, the suspect was located by the Air Crew.  Patrol officers were directed to the suspect and he was arrested without incident for Criminal Threats and Felony Evading in a vehicle.

Covina PD: Aug. 10, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the area of 1200 Workman St. regarding a male who fled on foot from a stolen vehicle.  The Air Crew responded to the scene and assisted in containing the area.  Once the area was contained, the Air Crew used the FLIR to search the containment area.  During the search, the Air Crew located an unusual heat source on a shed door in the rear yard of a residence.  The Air Crew directed patrol officers to the shed and the suspect was located hiding inside.  The suspect was arrested without incident for Grand Theft Auto.  

Arcadia PD: Aug. 19, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the area of 1500 Mayflower Ave. regarding a suspicious person seen in the area.  The Air Crew arrived on scene and located a male matching the description provided in the rear yard of a residence.  The Air Crew directed patrol officers to the residence and the suspect was detained without incident as he attempted to exit the property.  The suspect was found to me in possession of narcotics and the residence he was located at has been burglarized.  The suspect was arrested for Residential Burglary and Possession of Narcotics. 

Monrovia PD: Aug. 31, 2016-  PD-1 assisted patrol officers check the area of 200 E. Walnut St. for a wanted parolee.  While checking the area, the Air Crew located the wanted subject.  As the Air Crew directed patrol officers to the suspect, the suspect fled on foot.  A containment was set around the apartment complex where the suspect was last seen running.  While officers were preparing to search the complex, the suspect was able to access the roof of the complex.  In an attempt to continue fleeing the suspect jumped off the roof was and injured as result.  The suspect was arrested and transported to an area hospital.    

Alhambra PD: Sept. 4, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the City of Alhambra to assist patrol officers who were in pursuit of a vehicle connected to a residential burglary.  The Air Crew arrived and took control of the pursuit as it travel on the 10 Freeway.  The Air Crew followed the pursuit as it traveled on various freeways till finally exiting in South Los Angeles.  The pursuit continued on city streets till the vehicle eventually pulled over and all three occupants fled on foot.  The Air Crew was able to watch two of the three suspects as the fled and directed patrol officers to the suspects.  The two suspects were detained without incident and arrested for Residential Burglary.  The third suspect was not located that night.

Glendale PD: Sept. 10, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the area of 600 Hawthorne regarding a stolen vehicle.  The air crew arrived and located the vehicle parked in the area.  The Air Crew directed patrol officers to the vehicle who watched the vehicle until two suspects approached and entered the vehicle.  Patrol officers were able to stop the suspects prior to the vehicle driving away.  Both suspects were arrested for Grand Theft Auto.

Pasadena PD: Sept. 20, 2016-  PD-1 was flying in the area of Pasadena City College when the Air Crew received a LoJack stolen vehicle notification.  The Air Crew was able to locate the vehicle parked at a nearby hotel.  The Air Crew directed units to the vehicle.  During this time, it was learned the driver of the vehicle was staying at the hotel and was wanted for criminal threats with a firearm.  Once the vehicle and hotel was contained, patrol officers negotiated with the suspect to exit his hotel room.  The suspect complied and was arrested without incident.   

Pasadena PD: Sept. 22, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the 200 block of Altadena Dr. regarding a possible burglary in progress.  The Air Crew arrived on scene first and began to check the property using the FLIR camera.  While checking the location the crew saw a male attempting to gain entry into a building on the property.  The Air Crew advised responding units.  A short time later the suspect exited the property and walked to some nearby bushes.  The crew followed the suspects and updated responding units to his location.  The suspect was detained without incident and burglary tools were located in the bushes.  The suspect was arrested for Commercial Burglary.

Pasadena PD: Sept. 29, 2016-  PD-1 responded to the area of 400 Raymond Ave. after patrol officers saw a suspect wanted for Kidnapping with a Firearm.  The Air Crew arrived in the area and began to check for the suspect vehicle.  While doing this, a patrol officer located the suspect vehicle and a pursuit ensued.  PD-1 assumed control of the pursuit as it traveled on city streets and the 210 Freeway.  The vehicle eventually stopped in the 800 block of Manzanita Ave. and the driver fled on foot into a residence, barricading himself inside.  Patrol officers were able to safely evacuate 3 residents from the home.  Officers began to negotiate with the suspect until he ultimately complied and was arrested without incident.
