Air Operations Highlights December 2017
Arcadia PD, December 5: PD‐1 responded to the City of Arcadia regarding a vehicle pursuit.
Once on scene, the Aircrew began to broadcast and manage the pursuit. After a short distance,
the vehicle yielded and the suspect ran from the vehicle. The Aircrew tracked the suspect as he
ran and provided updates of his location to officers arriving in the area. The suspect was
eventually detained without incident and arrested for Evading.

Arcadia PD, December 8: PD‐1 responded to the City of Arcadia regarding a package theft from
the front door of a residence. PD‐1 located the suspect vehicle in the area of Santa Anita Ave.
and Duarte Rd. The vehicle drove to the rear of a business on Duarte Rd. and two occupants
fled on foot. The Aircrew quickly directed patrol officers to the vehicle and one suspect was
immediately detained. The second suspect continued to flee on foot and entered a residential
neighborhood. The Aircrew directed patrol units and contained the area the suspect was
running in. The suspect was detained as he attempted to exit the yard of a residence. Both
suspects were arrested for the theft and evidence of additional thefts were located inside their
vehicle.

Los Angeles Police Department Northeast Division, December 14: While on patrol, PD‐1 saw a
brush fire in the area of Occidental College. PD‐1 responded to the location and notified LAPD
and the LA City Fire Department (No calls from residents had yet been received). The Aircrew
directed the responding resources to where they were needed to quickly access the fire.
Several homes and school buildings were threatened by the fire but it was quickly extinguished.

Pasadena PD, December 15: PD‐1 responded to the area of 700 W. Howard St. to assist patrol
officers who were attempting to detain a suspect who fled from them on foot. The Aircrew set
a containment in the area and began checking the containment with the infrared camera.
While checking the area the Aircrew located a male jumping fences and running through
residential yards. PD‐1 directed patrol officers to where the suspect was last seen and the
suspect was detained without incident. The suspect was arrested for a narcotic violation.

Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department East Los Angeles Station, December 17: PD‐1 received a
LoJack stolen vehicle alert while on patrol. The Aircrew tracked the signal to East Los Angeles
near the intersection of Atlantic Ave. and Olympic Blvd. The Aircrew located the stolen vehicle
in a car wash parking lot and requested the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s
Department. As Deputies arrived in the area, a male was seen exiting the vehicle and fleeing on
foot. The Aircrew maintained an eye on the suspect and directed deputies to contain the area.
Once the suspect was contained he was contacted and arrested for Grand Theft Auto.

Pasadena PD, December 29: PD‐1 responded to Central Park regarding a fight. During the fight
one person was stabbed and the suspect was last seen fleeing on foot south through the park.
The Aircrew arrived in the area and began to look for the suspect. Aircrew members located
the suspect walking in the area of Edmondson Alley and California Blvd. The crew directed
patrol officers to the suspect and he was detained without incident. The knife used during the
assault was also located in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was arrested for Assault with
a Deadly Weapon.

Air Operations Christmas Toy Drive
On December 21, 2017, members of the Pasadena Police Department Air Operations Sections
conducted it annual Christmas Toy Drive. The Air Operations Section, along with Santa Claus
and Mrs. Claus landed at Huntington Memorial Hospital. While at the hospital toys were
delivered to children in the pediatric unit to help brighten their holiday. Later in the afternoon,
the organization Peace Over Violence, came to the heliport and many of the families they
service were greeted by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. The children of the families were given
toys and the chance to interact with members of the Air Operations Section.
