June 2018 Highlights

6/2/18                  Night Shift                          PD1 (Police Helicopter) responded to assist officer’s search for a stolen vehicle in the area of 100 block of N. Marion Ave.  During the search, PD1 located the car parked in the Howard Johnson's lot at 1599 E. Colorado., however, it was unoccupied.

 

6/11/18               Day Shift                             PD-1 monitored and responded to a radio call of a possible domestic battery and restraining order violation in the 300 block of 375 E Mountain Street.  PD1 located the suspect walking away from the location and directed ground units to the suspect.  He was taken into custody without incident.

 

6/12/18               Day Shift                             PD-1 responded to the Mid-Town Service Area regarding a battery that just occurred.  Upon arrival, PD1 located the male suspect and directed officers to him.  He was stopped and detained at Colorado near Wilson.  Officers were unable to locate the second half of the battery, but learned the male detained had an arrest warrant, therefore, he was arrested for the outstanding warrant and transported to jail.

 

6/13/18               Night Shift                          Alhambra PD contacted PD-1 regarding a suspicious male subject to the rear of a residence in the 1400 block of 5th St.  The subject was seen checking vehicle door handles.  PD1 responded and located the subject in a carport behind the apartment complex.  PD1 watched as the suspect walked from the carport to an open parking area and began trying additional door handles to other parked cars. PD-1 directed officers to the suspect after he jumped the south wall of the apartment complex. He was taken into custody without incident and arrested for miscellaneous offenses and warrants.

 

6/13/18               Night Shift                          Arcadia: PD1 responded to a residential burglary in progress in the 200 block of Arbolada St.  Just prior to our arrival, officers detained one suspect as he attempted to enter a vehicle parked in front of the residence.  Officer’s north of the location then saw three males with dark hoodies running through adjacent yards.  PD1 immediately set up a containment with Arcadia and Sierra Madre units.  During the extensive 4 hour search, two additional suspects were located within the perimeter.  One was found hiding inside a garage and another was found to rear of a nearby residence. During the investigation, additional loss was recovered from what appeared to be additional burglaries.

 

6/15/18               Day Shift                             Glendora: PD1 responded to assist Glendora PD with a pursuit of robbery suspects.  Following a containment and subsequent area search, two suspects were detained and arrested for the robbery.

 

6/15/18               Night Shift                          Burbank: PD-1 responded to a request by Burbank Police who were investigating a possible active shooter incident in which the suspect was seen fleeing into a nearby neighborhood.  The primary residence was on fire and burning out of control.  PD1 relieved Air 1 (Burbank/Glendale PD) and monitored the last known location of the suspect on thermal imaging camera. Throughout the incident, PD-1 had to depart for fuel but returned later to provide “Over-watch” for ground personnel.  The suspect was eventually taken into custody by a K9 team

 

6/20/18               Day Shift                             Alhambra:           PD1 responded to 1900 block of W. Pepper St in Alhambra to assist Alhambra PD and LASD deputies who were conducting a probation/parole compliance check.  During the incident, LASD personnel advised the subject had a firearm and was barricaded inside the apartment.  PD1 assisted by establishing a containment, command post, traffic control, and maintained a perimeter until relieved by LASD air crew.

 

6/21/18               Day Shift                             Traffic supervision requested air support on an arrest attempt involving a possible murder suspect.  PD-1 maintained a perimeter in the area of lake and Walnut and advised the ground units of the suspect’s actions.  When the suspect made contact with his parole officer, PD-1 directed motor officers to the parking lot where they detained and later arrested the suspect.

 

6/25/18               Day Shift                             PD1 responded to a possible auto burglary in progress in Big Lots parking lot.  Upon arrival, PD1 located the subject and watched as he walked to a vehicle, opened a rear door and appeared to rummage through it.  PD1 directed patrol responding officers to the suspect as he attempted to walk away.   He was subsequently arrested for burglary.

 

6/26/18               Night Shift                          PD1 responded to subjects fighting inside Circle J at Lake Ave and Maple St. Upon our arrival, one of the subjects walked out of the location and began running east through the parking lot before jumping a wall.  PD1 advised the ground units who detained the subject without incident. The second subject was also detained at Orange Grove and Lake.  After an investigation, the first subject was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

 

6/29/18               Night Shift                          PD1 responded to 600 block on N. Hill Ave. regarding a spousal abuse investigation occurring in a vehicle.  PD1 arrived first on scene, located the vehicle, and directed responding units to it.  The suspect was detained and subsequently arrested without incident.
