Incident Information Video - Incident PA2024-28813

On April 13, 2024, Pasadena Police Officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle stopped in the wrong direction on a one-way street. The driver, found to be unlicensed, was asked to exit the vehicle. Instead, he started the car and drove off, nearly hitting an assisting officer.

A brief pursuit ensued, ending when the suspect crashed into a parked vehicle and fled into a nearby neighborhood. While setting up a containment, Pasadena Police Dispatch received several calls about a man breaking into homes. Minutes later, the suspect was located by air support in the backyard of a residence. A K9 unit was successfully deployed, and as officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect's actions lasted approximately 34 minutes and covered about one mile within the south side of the Pasadena residential area.

This Mobile Audio Video (MAV) footage was captured from the contacting officer’s police unit. It shows the officer driving and stopping near the suspect’s vehicle. The video also captures the assisting officer moving out of the way as the contacting officer pursues the suspect. The video also shows the officer driving to the location where the shooting occurred.

Video #2: In-Car Video from Police Vehicle #29

This Mobile Audio Video footage was captured from the assisting officer's police unit. It shows the officer responding to assist the contacting officer. The video depicts the assisting officer arriving on the scene and approaching the officer and the suspect's vehicle. The video also captures the moment when the assisting officer is nearly struck by the suspect's vehicle.

Video #3: Officer Body Worn Camera (BWC) footage of contacting officer at the initial incident

This BWC footage is from the officer who initially discovered the suspect parked on the wrong side of the street. The video shows the officer making contact with the suspect to investigate, getting into his vehicle to pursue the suspect, deploying his K9, and the subsequent officer-involved shooting.

This BWC footage is from one of the officers involved in the containment. It shows the officer being approached by two residents yelling for help. The video also captures the officer-involved shooting and the aftermath, including the collection of the suspect's weapon.
