June 19, 2026, the Pasadena Fire Department Arson Investigation team assisted the Pasadena Police Department Street Crime unit and executed a search warrant at 6316 Whittier Blvd. in the City of Los Angeles. An extensive investigation led them to discover illegal explosive fireworks being stored at the location, intended for distribution in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley cities. Due to homemade explosives being located during the execution of the warrant, LASD Bomb Squad also responded to collect the explosive devices. In total, the Pasadena Police Department (Street Crime Unit) and the Pasadena Fire Department (Arson Investigator) located and seized approximately 10,000 pounds of illegal explosive fireworks (including improvised explosive devices), a large quantity of marijuana products, an unregistered firearm with high-capacity magazines, and documentation indicative of the sales of the illegal fireworks. Four arrests were made as a result of the investigation. This investigation is ongoing and is believed to be related to a criminal street gang enterprise which smuggles the fireworks from the state of Nevada. The approximate resale value of the fireworks is upwards of $120,000.00.
