Support Services Division
The Support Services Division, led by Commander Karen Peterson, is essential to the Pasadena Police Department’s daily operations and oversees several critical functions that ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. The division manages Records Management, which maintains all police records and provides vital support to other divisions to ensure timely service to the community. It also oversees Property and Evidence, ensuring the secure handling, storage, and disposition of evidence, safekeeping items, and found property while maintaining proper chain of custody.
The Emergency Communications Section operates the department’s 24/7 telecommunications center, serving as Pasadena’s primary 9-1-1 answering point and coordinating police dispatch. In addition, the division oversees Police Technology programs and projects, managed by the Police Civilian Commander in partnership with the City’s Department of Information Technology (DoIT). Support Services is also responsible for Police Building and Fleet Management, which includes facility maintenance and repairs in collaboration with Public Works, as well as vehicle procurement, outfitting, maintenance, and repair, handled jointly with Public Works Fleet Management. Under Commander Peterson’s leadership, the Support Services Division ensures that the department’s foundational systems and resources operate seamlessly in support of public safety.
