Tile mural design for Cinema Lofts. Countdown Leader refers to the visual second-by-second countdown that was used to cue the beginning of film segments for playback. The artist chose to display the numbers "217" to represent the building's street address. Keeping with the cinematic theme, the mural appears cropped, suggesting the subtle transition of images that appear in film. By using a multitude of images, the artist was able to convey a pixilated look that would otherwise appear in modern digital film. The mural's color scheme in black, white and grays reinforces the modernist style of the building's architecture while referencing the days of black and white cinema.
