DESCRIPTION
Michael Amescua's work takes the form of five gates and two transoms. The sturdy hand cut gates are light and airy with their graceful designs, which signify the flora and fauna of the region and the "romantic Mediterranean" feeling of the project. These gates pay homage to Pasadena's location and history reflecting the artist's inspiration derived from the arts and crafts movement. Amescua aimed for dramatic harmony when crafting the guardrails, gates and signage for Paseo Colorado, which gives the project its romantic feel.
