Peter Shire has designed a three-dimensional artwork that functions as an awning to the adjoined building entryway. The design features overlain steel beams, both rectangular and round in form, with a red cylinder, yellow cube and blue narrow beam attached to their ends. This arrangement of shapes suggests the pieces have fallen into place by chance, like pick-up sticks that have just been released. Projecting from the building, over the sidewalk, this abstract sculpture hints at the geometric style used by Malevich, the originator of the Avant-garde Suprematist movement.
