DESCRIPTION
Upon first glance, Jack Sullivan's (Art S.O.S. O'hio) Sign of the Time sculpture appears as one giant road sign hanging above the Union Street parking garage where it greets drivers passing inside or cruising down the street. A closer look reveals that in fact the artist pieced together twenty-five diamond shaped, yellow road signs in the form of one large universal sign. Re-contextualizing familiar road signs into a single collage allowed the artist to create a work of public art that emphasizes the lively graphic quality of the individual signs.
