DESCRIPTION
Deceitfully titled, Tile Fireplace appears as a water fountain set into a stucco wall accented with antique tiles and surrounded by a series of intricate tile wall murals. A composition of subtle earth tones, the tiles comprising the main fountain element were gathered and pieced together from the remains of a demolished home donated to the Plaza Las Fuentes by the Pasadena Heritage Society. The combination of antique fountain façade and modern tile murals depicting larger-than-life roses on colorfully abstract backgrounds captures the personality of Pasadena. Rose motifs and the central fountain reference the history of a culturally diverse and artistically inspired city presented in the abstract network of decorated tiles.
