DESCRIPTION
A large bowl that remains perpetually full pours a constant rivulet of water into a water trough element, terminating in an acoustic water cascade. The cascade adds the sound element of both movement and falling water to the piece. To me, Westridge School is a place of great continuity with appreciation for both the environment and the self. The fountain serves as a metaphor in that the Westridge community is like a river with a constant flow of activity and energy. Each individual, whether a student, teacher or community member, adds their part, their drop of water to the river. The bowl that is perpetually full adds its creative momentum to the river that flows through. It is important that the water in the bowl is reflective one can actually see herself in it and that it joins the moving water. One can hear the vitality of the water and the perpetual movement in connection to the planet.
