The stem and soffit pour occurred on October 3, 2016. September 2016 La Loma Bridge Project Update

The contractor spent the month preparing for the "stem and soffit" concrete pour. Work included placing reinforcing steel for the stem and soffit and pier bent caps, placing ducts for pre-stressing strands, and placing formwork. August 2016 La Loma Bridge Project Update

Construction of the East Abutment and associated items are completed. This completes the construction of the various sub-structure components of the bridge. Construction of the bridge superstructure continues. Forms for the bridge soffit (bottom or underside of the box girder) have been placed, and the steel rebar and duct for the pre-stressing strands are being installed. Backfill of the west abutment and retaining wall was completed. Construction of the interior forms (area between exterior girders) began and is on-going. May 2016 La Loma Bridge Project Update

Construction of the west abutment and retaining wall at the west abutment was completed. Forming and steel placement for the mid-span exterior girders was completed and concrete was placed completing these portions of the exterior architectural girders. Formation of the remaining portions of the exterior girders continued. April 2016 La Loma Bridge Project Update

Contractor began construction of the west abutment, and forming and placing steel (rebar) for the exterior girders and spandrel arches. Construction work is transitioning from construction of sub-structure components to that of super-structure components. March 2016 La Loma Bridge Project Update

Pile driving operation at the west abutment is complete and the contractor will soon move to the east side of the structure to begin construction of the east abutment adjacent to South Arroyo Blvd. In order to accommodate this work, the bridge plans include a temporary lane shift and slight lane width reduction for both the northbound and southbound lanes of South Arroyo Blvd at the intersection with La Loma Rd.
