Safety Reminder for Trash Collection
To ensure the safety of our collection crews, it is important to provide enough space around trash containers for safe handling. Items like parked vehicles, overgrown grass, uneven walkways, construction debris, or other obstructions can create hazards and may interfere with collection operations.
Clear and unobstructed access enables our team to work more efficiently, minimizing delays and ensuring your service runs smoothly.
Residential Service Discounts
The City of Pasadena offers residential refuse customers two types of discounts: the Senior Citizen Refuse Rate or the Roll Out Service for Disabled Persons. If you meet the requirements listed below, please complete and submit an electronic application, or request a paper copy of the application by calling the City Service Center at (626) 744-7311.
The Senior Citizen Refuse Rate provides qualified residents with a 10% discount on their monthly refuse rate. The Roll Out Service for Disabled Persons provides free roll out service for qualified residents. Roll out service means that your containers will be set out at the curb for service and then returned to their original location by City of Pasadena staff.
Please note that residents who meet the requirements for both the Senior Discount and the Roll Out Service for Disabled Persons can only receive one of these two discounts. The city will grant a discount once the qualifications are verified.
Senior Citizen Refuse Rate Application
Requirements:
- Be 62 years of age or older
- Pay the refuse bill for only one (1) unit and reside on the premises in that unit
- Both the service address and billing address must be in your name according to the Municipal Services records
- Not participating in another refuse discount program

Roll Out Service for Disabled Persons
Requirements:
- Possess a permanent accessible parking placard issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
- Placard must be N1 - Permanent
- Living alone or with no other person able to assist in rolling in and out the containers.
- Not participating in another refuse discount program
