Used Motor Oil and Oil Filter Recycling

Used motor oil and oil filters should be recycled properly by taking them to a Certified Collection Center or Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, or by scheduling a curbside pick-up through the Pasadena City Service Center. Used motor oil should never be poured onto the ground or into storm drains, and it should not be placed into your trash can.

Certified Collection Centers will not accept used motor oil that has been contaminated with other fluids such as antifreeze, solvents, gasoline, or water. Contaminated motor oil should be disposed of properly at a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center. These permanent collection centers also accept uncontaminated used oil and filters.

Curbside Used Motor Oil Pick-Up

Residents with City of Pasadena refuse service can have used oil and filters picked up by appointment only. Please call the City Service Center (626-744-7311) at least 24 hours in advance of your regular trash pick-up and indicate the number of containers. On the day of pick-up, place used oil/filter in approved container at the curb by 7am.
