The Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) has released its July 2026 Newsletter, featuring important updates, educational resources, and opportunities for community involvement. This month’s issue includes information on the newly adopted Annual General Adjustment (AGA), an upcoming workshop on Just Cause Eviction Protections, and an opportunity to serve on the Pasadena Rental Housing Board (PRHB).
This month’s newsletter highlights the 2.5% AGA adopted by the PRHB on June 18, 2026. Effective October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, the AGA is the maximum allowable rent increase that may be applied to covered rental units during the upcoming year unless a higher increase is approved through the RSD’s petition process. The newsletter also reminds landlords that the AGA does not apply automatically and that all applicable notice requirements must be met before increasing rent.
The July newsletter also promotes RSD’s upcoming Monthly Workshop on Just Cause Eviction Protections, taking place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6 p.m. The workshop will provide an overview of Pasadena’s just cause protections under Article XVIII of the City Charter, including the legally defined reasons a landlord may terminate a tenancy and how these protections apply to tenants and landlords. Community members may attend the workshop in person at the RSD office or virtually via Zoom at Bit.ly/MonthlyRSDWorkshops.
In addition, the newsletter announces an Alternate Tenant Member vacancy on the PRHB. The selected applicant will help oversee the implementation and enforcement of Pasadena’s Rent Stabilization Charter while serving the remainder of the current term through May 24, 2027. Applications are due Thursday, July 9, 2026, and interested residents are encouraged to apply through the Office of the City Clerk.
Community members are encouraged to read the full newsletter to stay informed about Rent Stabilization programs, upcoming workshops, and opportunities to participate in Pasadena’s rental housing community. The newsletter is available as a downloadable PDF and physical copy in both English and Spanish.
