The City of Pasadena’s Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) invites community members to its next Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor event on Friday, August 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave.
This event will expand the Chats & Snacks experience by bringing together several local housing organizations and City departments in one community location. RSD will be joined by Friends In Deed, the Housing Rights Center, and the City of Pasadena Department of Housing, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about a broader range of housing services, programs, and resources available in Pasadena.
Participating organizations will offer information and assistance in their respective areas of service:
Rent Stabilization Department: Information and guidance on Pasadena’s rent stabilization laws, including tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, rent increases, petitions, rental registration, and other rental housing matters.
Department of Housing: Information about affordable housing, rental assistance, Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) services, and other City programs that help residents access and maintain stable housing.
Housing Rights Center: Free landlord-tenant and fair housing counseling, including assistance with housing discrimination concerns and disability-related reasonable accommodations and modifications.
Friends In Deed: Community-based support and resources for individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, housing instability, or homelessness, including food assistance and other supportive services.
At the beginning of the event, representatives from participating organizations and RSD staff will provide brief presentations introducing their work and highlighting the services and resources they provide to the community. Following the presentations, attendees can speak one-on-one with representatives, ask questions, receive personalized guidance, and learn where to turn for additional assistance.

By bringing these organizations together, we’re able to offer residents a more complete picture of the support available to them, whether they’re facing housing instability, have questions about their housing rights, or want to learn about rental assistance and affordable housing opportunities.”
The event is free and open to the public, and no registration or appointment is required. Complimentary coffee and snacks will be provided. RSD Housing Counselors will be available to assist in both English and Spanish.
Community members may drop in at any time during the event. Those interested in hearing the brief presentations from participating organizations are encouraged to arrive at the beginning of the event.
