Topic: The City of Pasadena is proposing the construction of the Pasadena Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility that will provide support services for the Pasadena Transit system fleet (30 buses) and the Pasadena Dial-A-Ride paratransit services (15 buses). The proposed facility would be located at 2180 East Foothill Boulevard. Constructing the new Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility will enable the City to consolidate its vehicles and operations on one city-owned site reducing on-street parking impacts within neighborhoods. Two 3-level structures are proposed on the site: 1) a parking structure with bus fueling, and 2) a Transit Operations and Maintenance Building with 1 wash bay, 4 bus repair bays and other support areas on the first 2 levels, and Operation offices on the third level.

The City of Pasadena is proposing to build a needed Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility for Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride’s feet of 30 CNG buses and 15 paratransit vehicles. The current facility located at 303 N. Allen Ave. is leased and the owner is selling the property.
The new facility would be built on City-owned property at 2180 E. Foothill Boulevard and would be home to Pasadena’s transit operations. The Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility will enable the City to continue providing its essential local transit services to the community. The new location will accommodate the transit feet and will include inspection and repair bays, vehicle lifts, maintenance and bus wash equipment, and storage for parts and materials. Space would be provided for driver training and dispatch, customer service, and management sta. The potential to accommodate an on-site CNG
fueling station may eliminate daily refueling trips to the City Yards in Northwest Pasadena.
Planning for the new facility began with input from the groups who will be using the facility. Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride operations personnel, maintenance and management sta, as well as representatives from various City departments participated in focus groups to develop a conceptual design for the public to review and provide feedback. Once the public input process is complete, the City will make a final decision on the design for the facility.
The City recognizes that a successful project is one that includes the local community’s input. To that end, the City is encouraging the public to join in on the discussion. This eort began on September 20, 2016, at the first community workshop where participants provided valuable input that helped form the alternatives. A second community workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. The objective will be to refine those alternatives. A third community workshop will be held before final presentation to City Council. The objective is to bring together everything the City has learned from the facilities users, the elected ocials, the technical team, and the general public and present a final plan.
