September 11, 2026: Proclamation - Day of Remembrance

PROCLAMATION:

Whereas, on September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed by a series of horrific terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent people; and

Whereas, we remember and honor the victims, their families, and all those whose lives were forever altered by the events of that tragic day; and

Whereas, we pay special tribute to the courageous first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary heroism and selflessness in the face of unimaginable danger; and

Whereas, on this 25th anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to remembrance, service, unity, freedom, and community, which have served to guide our City and our nation through times of tragedy and adversity; and

Whereas, the memory of September 11, 2001 reminds us that even in our darkest moments, community strength, resilience, and compassion shine brightly;

Now, Therefore I, Victor M. Gordo, Mayor of the City of Pasadena, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim September 11, 2026 in Pasadena as a Day of Remembrance of September 11, 2001 and encourage all residents to pause and reflect upon the lives lost that day and to renew our shared commitment to unity, peace, and service to one another.
