The Rose

 

The Rose is a citywide literary magazine, but really it's a journal of youth voices. It features the works of Pasadena Students ages 13+ who either live or go to school in Pasadena. It includes selected works and submissions of poetry, short fiction, book reviews, original artwork, original photography and much more.

Want to submit your own work or create the cover art?

Writing Submissions Requirements:

• Poetry – up to 40 lines
• Short Fiction – up to 1,000 words
• Book Reviews – 250–500 words

Art Submission Requirements:

• Original artwork
• Original photography
• Cover art submissions

Before The Rose, there was the Teen Zine. It was a bi-annual publication that features writing, photos, book lists, artwork, interviews, and articles by or about teens at the library. This mini magazine was designed, edited, and assembled by a team of teen volunteers. It was shared with schools, administrators, public officials, youth advocates, and read by people from all over the community—even people on another continent!
